The Friends have no access to, or control of, the building, which is currently only partially in use, as a slot machine lounge by Merkur Casino UK.
The freehold has been sold to Ruach City Church; the original headlease held by Mecca Bingo (Top Rank) has been cancelled; and Merkur’s original lease has been replaced.
The Friends of Streatham Hill Theatre is a volunteer-run charity campaigning to save this ‘sleeping beauty’ for the benefit of the community.
We are registered in England as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) Number CE024993 and Registered Charity Number 1193643.

‘I applaud the Friends’ campaign to bring this wonderful theatre back to life and help make Streatham the place to visit for creative entertainment, as it used to be many years ago.’
Actor Robert Glenister lived in Streatham for several years. He made his first television appearance in the sitcom Sink or Swim. Robert went on to appear in numerous TV dramas and series such as Soldier Soldier, Doctor Who, Cold Feet, Only Fools and Horses, A Touch of Frost, Spooks, George Gently, Midsomer Murders, Vera, Curfew, Prime Suspect, Close to the Enemy and The Musketeers. However, he is probably best known for his starring role in the BBC drama Hustle. His films include Villain, The Aeronauts, Double Date and Live by Night. In the theatre, Robert has played Sorin in The Seagull, Bob Boothby in Never So Good, Lord Goring in An Ideal Husband and Astov in Uncle Vanya amongst many others. Robert is well known for his performances in numerous BBC Radio Drama productions and for his narrations of Audiobooks.
