Matt is a S. London based lighting designer. He works internationally on theatre, opera, site specific, and corporate projects.
Holding a First Class (Hon) Degree in Lighting Design from Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, he often returns as a visiting lecturer on its Bachelor of Arts, and Master of Arts courses.
Matt has worked with the following Opera Companies: The Royal Opera House; Welsh National Opera; Irish National Opera; Estonian National Opera; Opera National Lorraine; Opera Zuid: Israeli Opera; Opera Lille; Folkoperan; Malmö Opera; Maggio Musicale; Royal Opera House, Oman; Teatro Real; Teatrio Regio, Teatro Donizetti, English Touring Opera, and Opera North.
Matt has worked with the following Theatre Companies: Lincoln Centre Festival; Power Centre; Avignon Festival; Barbican Theatre; Setagaya Public Theatre; National Theatre, Taiwan; Birmingham Rep; Royal Exchange Theatre; Young Vic Theatre; National Centre for Performing Arts, India; Royal Court; Les Théâtres de la Ville; Teatre Lliure; Stadsschouwburg; Burg Theater; Teatros del Canal and Riksteatern.
His work has played the West End (The Olivier Award Nominated Peter Pan Goes Wrong). His designs have toured the UK extensively, and have been licensed internationally in New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Sweden & North America.
Special projects include lighting Grace Jones’ Eiko Ishioka at the Royal Albert Hall and Ravi Shankar’s final composition, Sukanya at the Royal Festival Hall.
In 2008, he was nominated for his work in opera at the Knight of Illumination Awards.
Whilst theatres have been closed over the past year, he has spent his time mentoring, teaching, working on filmed projects and supporting the Friends of Streatham Hill Theatre.
