Historic England: Reusing Historic Cinemas as Places of Worship
We spoke with Dr Kate Jordan of Westminster University earlier in the year as she was researching the take over of former cinemas as places of worship, and had come across Streatham Hill Theatre, which while not a cinema, had been taken over.
She has now published an article about this on the Historic England blog, which unfortunately doesn’t address grassroots campaigns to retain some of these buildings for their original purpose, serving local communities.
